Indiana County was once again well-represented at the Pennsylvania Farm Show as a local student won a contest.
The Department of Agriculture announced the winners of their recent Spotted Lanternfly Calendar contest at the 104th annual Farm Show in Harrisburg. The contest is held as an effort to continue to raise awareness about the threat of the invasive species. The department selected 12 submissions, 3 each from first and second grades, third and fourth grades, fifth and sixth grades and seventh and eighth grades to make up an eventual calendar, along with an overall winner who will be featured on the cover of the calendar. Students had to create an original 11 by 17 inch poster, and include one fact about the Spotted Laternfly in their poster.
Indiana County’s winner was homeschooler Elizabeth Pumford, as she took third place in the first and second grade division. Her poster will be featured on the September page of the calendar.
Today is the last day of the Farm Show in Harrisburg.
