Gas prices saw a spike over the New Year holiday season, and prices are staying high for now.
Triple-A reports that in Indiana County, the average cost of a gallon of gas is at $2.93. Over the Christmas holiday, gas prices were hovering at $2.83 a gallon. Across the region, the lowest average is $2.89 a gallon in Westmoreland County. Armstrong and Clearfield counties checked in with $2.91 a gallon. Jefferson county also had an average of $2.93 a gallon, and Cambria had the highest among the Indiana County Neighbors at $2.94 a gallon.
The statewide average is $2.82 a gallon, and while it is a three-cent increase over last week at this time, Triple A says the average is going down little by little. The highest average across the state is currently $2.99 a gallon in Crawford County, while the lowest average is Lebanon county at $2.73 a gallon.
