There is an extensive list of Criminal Call defendants on the Indiana County Court schedule today, and while most of the cases will probably be quick updates to the judge from the attorneys involved, one of the more notable defendants may need a new attorney.
56-year-old Peter Grabaskas, the former Chief Operating Officer of Phoenix Rehabilitation and Health Services, is charged with stealing more than $138,000 from the company over a twenty-month period between January of 2016 and August of 2017.
This week, attorney Malcolm Taylor Johnson filed a motion to withdraw as the counsel for Grabaskas, less than a month after a motion for Fast Track ARD was denied by the court.
Grabaskas was fired by Phoenix in 2017 when he refused to pay back a $250,000 loan from Phoenix CEO David Watson. He left Indiana County to become CEO of Ocean State Healthcare in Rhode Island.
He’s charged with theft by failure to make required disposition of funds, theft by unlawful taking, and theft by deception.
No trial date has been set.
