The WPIAL has held a meeting of school Principals, Athletic Directors and coaches to present two drastically different conference alignment proposals that the league is considering for next football season.
The WPIAL is asking all 119 football playing schools to inform the league by Monday about what proposal they would prefer. The league says it will release conference alignments on Jan 20.
One proposal would put the Indiana High football team in a section with Apollo Ridge, Burrell, Deer Lakes, Derry, Freeport, Highlands, former Heritage Conference school Ligonier Valley, Summit Academy, and Valley.
In a survey, almost 60 percent of schools said they would prefer a system that keeps “status quo” with six classifications.
