In Heritage Conference girls basketball last night, Penns Manor trounced Purchase Line, 61-11. Todd Marino has the story.
Marion Center topped West Shamokin, 53-37. Kaelee Elkin scored 16 points for the Stingers. Lydia Miller added 11 points and 10 steals and Natalie Black scored 11.
River Valley was a 55-35 winner over United.
Portage beat Northern Cambria, 62-21.
In boys play, Portage beat Northern Cambria, 77-25.
WRESTLING
Indiana picked up another Section win, defeating Derry, 51-24. Winners for the Indians were Carter Putt, Nico Fanella, Jacob Snyder, Tuscan Blystone, Payne McClure, Will Turner, Dominic Fanella , Alvin Liu, and Brandyn Parcell. Indiana is 2-2 , 2-0 in the section. The program also last night honored Jerry, Jim and Ralph Craig for seventy Years of involvement in Indiana wrestling.
United wiped out Cambria Heights, 67-0 on the mats. Winners by fall were Cade Krouse and Traystin Tomalson, Winners for the Lions by decision were Noah Pisarik and Caden McCully. All of the other wins were by forfeit.
SWIMMING
Homer-Center’s boys and girls swim teams both won in the pool yesterday, beating Northern Cambria. The girls won all 11 events and the boys won, 53-22.
For the girls, Grace Frazier, Ava King, Julia King, and Morgan Nagy each won two individual events, and they combined to win two relays. Ciara Richards, Elizabeth Johnson, Natalia Thomas, and Vanessa Uher won a relay as well. Kendra Ditter shwed the most improved time, cutting 5.06 seconds off her 50 freestlye swim.
For the boys, Oshen Maratita and Landon Shoup each won individual events and the team of Maratita, Hunter Elias, Isaac Ditter, and Shoup won the 200 freestyle relay. The relay team of Elias, Ditter, Maratita and Levi Loose took first place also. The biggest time drop was by Isaac Ditter who dropped 13.92 seconds in his 100 freestyle.
