The IUP men’s basketball team sits atop the Division Two power rankings by ncaa.com’s Wayne Cavadi, although he seems reluctant about it. While still touting former number one Northwest Missouri State, Cavadi writes that IUP is “winning and winning big…outscoring opponents by a margin of 20.7 points per game.” He says Tomiwa Sulaiman is “a real X-factor” and IUP “is dangerous with depth in the scoring department.”
For the second time this season, IUP’s Shawndale Jones is the PSAC West Athlete of the Week, after averaging 21 points and 4.5 rebounds in the wins over Kutztown and West Chester over the weekend.
FOOTBALL
IUP football graduate students Darrell Davis and Connor Kelly have been named to the 2022 Academic All-America teams by the College Sports Communicators. Davis is an offensive lineman and Kelly is a linebacker. The two are IUP’s first Academic All-Americans since Mike Pietropola in 2017.
