The pace of new flu reports across Pennsylvania eased off a bit last week, but Indiana County’s rate continued to speed up.
After an increase of 52 new cases last week and 41 the week before, there were 100 new lab-confirmed flu cases in Indiana County last week, bringing the total for the entire flu season to 211. Type B flu continues to be most prevalent; with 180 cases; that’s an increase of 84 over last week. There have been 32 Type A flu confirmations.
Armstrong County’s total flu cases rose by fifty, to 183 for the season. Cambria County added 109 new cases last week, for a total of 791 for the season. Clearfield County increased by 65, to 167. Jefferson County had 45 new cases last week and stands at 121 for the season. Westmoreland County had 335 new cases last week, bringing its total number of lab-confirmed flu cases to 1,436.
Four more people died from flu-related causes. So far since the first week of October, there have been thirteen flu deaths across Pennsylvania. Across the commonwealth, there have been about 500 more flu cases this season, compared to the same point last season.
