A mobile home was destroyed by a fire yesterday in Washington Township.
Indiana County 911 reported the first call at 12:59 p.m. yesterday for the fire on Pine Hollow Road. Creekside, Plumville, Marion Center, Elderton, Dayton and Indiana fire departments along with Citizens’ Ambulance and the RIT team were dispatched at that time. The Coal Run/McIntyre Fire department was dispatched at 1:08 p.m. for standby detail for the Creekside firefighters. Initial reports said that the fire was in a single wide mobile home. The home is considered a complete loss. Cory Hitchings, assistant chief of the Creekside Fire Department, said that they along with the state police fire marshals determined the fire started with a heater in back bedroom.
One firefighter was reported injured, with Hitchings saying she overexerted herself. She is now doing fine and recovering at home.
The trailer was the home of the Overlys. Both occupants got out safely. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
