Five fire departments were on the scene for a fire in Creekside that destroyed a home on Monday afternoon.
Creekside, Indiana and Marion Center fire departments were initially called out to 8 Campbell Street at 1:13 in the afternoon with Elderton and Plumville fire departments called in just minutes later along with the Indiana County Rig team.
Flames were visible from the one-story home when fire crews got to the scene. In fact, Cody Hitchings, the chief of Creekside Fire Department, said that his home was next door to the home on fire. He added that it was a quick response from him and some other nearby firefighters that resulted in a quick knockdown of the fire.
The fire was put out within an hour. Hitchings said the fire was ruled electrical in nature and started in the front porch area.
