The Pitt Panthers play a day game today against Canisius. It tips off at noon at the Peterson Events Center (11:30 airtime on WCCS).
Pitt Coach Jeff Capel got his biggest verbal commitment yet last night when Jalen Hood-Schifino, a Penn Hills native now living in Charlotte, North Carolina, posted on his Instagram that he has accepted Capel’s offer to play in his hometown. He’s rated a five-star recruit and the number-25 player in the nation in the high school class of 2022.
The 6-4 guard is the son of former Lock Haven women’s player Angel Schifino, the nephew of former West Virginia star Drew Schifino and former NFL receiver Jake Schifino, and the cousin of former Pitt tight end DeAndre Schifino.
