A Homer City man is awaiting his preliminary hearing in Cambria County for a hit-and-run crash in a suburb of Johnstown.
52-year-old Clarence Shaffer, Jr. of Homer City was charged with DUI, felony aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence and flight to avoid apprehension, two misdemeanor counts of accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle, and single misdemeanor counts of accidents involving injury or death and reckless endangerment for a crash that happened on December 16th at the intersection of Goucher Street and Funari Avenue in the area of Lower Yoder Township.
Shaffer allegedly slammed his truck into two cars that were stopped that afternoon, and immediately fled the scene. The truck lost a tire and then crashed onto a sidewalk just off of D Street. Shaffer tried to get away on foot, but police said they were able to catch up with him.
Police say there were no serious injuries. Shaffer was able to post $30,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is set for January 13th.
