After an eight-game losing streak, the Penguins have ripped off 12 wins in their last 16 games, including a five-game winning streak to start the month of December. They beat Buffalo in back-to-back games Friday and Saturday and they got defenseman Kris Letang back on the ice, ten days after he suffered a stroke. Coach Mike Sullivan says Letang is the key to the Penguins’ defense.
Sidney Crosby scored two goals on Saturday night. He leads the Penguins with 17 goals on the season and Sullivan says he is playing at MVP level.
In their five-game winning streak, the Pens’ power play has gone 7 for 20, a 35 percent success rate that is more than double what they did in their first 23 games of the season. Sullivan says talent such as Crosby, Letang, Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel, and Bryan Rust are too good to keep down.
The Penguins host the Dallas Stars tonight at PPG Paints Arena. The pregame airs at six o’clock on 92.5 FM U2 and the U92 Sportschannel, with faceoff shortly after seven.
