GIRLS BASKETBALL
Penns Manor’s Deja Gillo and Alyssa Altemus each scored 13 points and Allie Mumau had 12 with 11 rebounds while Sydney Shaffer scored 12 in a 66-21 drubbing of Northern Cambria.
Cambria Heights beat Purchase Line, 45-28 behind 16 points by Sienna Kirsch and 10 points and 10 rebounds by Gracey Vinglish. Anna Layden had 10 for PL.
Portage downed Windber 55-28 as Jenna Burkett scored 17.
BOYS BASKETBALL
United outscored Purchase Line, 47-28. Brad Felix led the Lions with 23, including three three-pointers. Joe Marino added 14. Andrew Smarsh led the Red Dragons with 9.
WRESTLING
Indiana high School wrestling team fall to 0-2 with a loss to Armstrong last night 45-27. Winners for the Indians were Nico Fanella, Carter Putt, Tuscan Blystone, Will Turner, Dominic Fanella and Griffin Prebish.
HOCKEY
In a back-and forth affair, Indiana fell to Shaler, 4-3. The Indians took a 1-0 lead on Andrew Kobak’s first period goal but Shaler scored the next two before Nate Wood tied it at 2 in the second. Shaler then scored two more in the second period to take a 4-2 lead into the third. Colton Rayko netted a goal with 1:50 left to draw Indiana to within one, but that was as close as they could get. Indiana fell to 4-6.
SWIM
In their first-ever meet, the Homer-Center swim team lost by a slim 17-point margin to Cambria Heights at the IUP Pidgeon Natatorium last night.
The Wildcats’ girls won eight of their eleven events. Grace Frazer won the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle. Freshman Morgan Nagy debuted with wins in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke. Ava King took the 100 butterfly. Julia King won the 100 backstroke. The girls also had a first in the 400 free and 200 medley relays.
The Wildcats’ boys all achieved personal best times, with freshman Landon Shoup leading the way with third place finishes in the 200 free and 100 breaststroke.
RIFLE
In its first match of the season, the Indiana rifle team lost to Washington by a score of 746-19x to Washington’s 780-37x. Top shooter for Indiana was Emily Teacher with a 98-5x.
