A man from Mexico who served time in Indiana County for a sex-related crime was caught trying to illegally cross the border back into the United States.
Reports say that 48-year-old Romualdo Gregorio Felipe, originally from Mexico, was caught by border patrol agents on December 4th around 6:15 PM in the area of Lukeville, Arizona. A spokesperson for the border patrol said that Felipe will face a hearing on immigration violations.
Felipe had pleaded guilty in May of 2015 to the only count he was charged with: a misdemeanor count of indecent assault of someone under the age of 13. At the time, he was ordered to serve 125 days in jail and he was deported to Mexico later that year. The charge stems from an incident in 2010, and he was arrested in late 2014 on the charge.
The charges were discovered as anyone apprehended by border patrol agents go through a criminal background check via biometrics to make sure people with criminal histories are positively identified.
