BOYS BASKETBALL
The United Lions picked up a 64-48 win over Punxsutawney last night in Armagh. Leading the way for United was Tyler Robertson, who had 17 points. Brad Felix and Dylan Dishong each posted 14.
United went ahead for good with a 25-point third quarter. The Lions also held Punxsy to single-digit points in the first and second quarters.
West Shamokin downed Cambria Heights, 42-32. The Wolves are 2-1 on the season.
The Indiana High boys basketball team fell to Burrell, 74-67, at 5th Street Gym. Leading the way for Indiana was Stanford Webb who had five three-pointers in a 25-point performance. Gavin Homer added 24 points.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Marion Center picked up its first win of the season after beating Ligonier Valley, 63-32. Lydia Miller and Kaelee Elkin each notched a double-double in the game. Miller had 24 points, 10 rebounds and eight steals, while Elkin posted 15 points, 12 rebounds, five steals, and five assists.
Mya Lipsie added 11 points and five rebounds for the Stingers.
The Marion Center girls JV team also beat Ligonier Valley, 35-2.
And the Indiana girls basketball team fell to Greater Latrobe, 70-57.
PIHL
Indiana fell to Norwin, 5-3, in PIHL Class A hockey last night.
The Little Indians led 3-2 after two periods thanks to two goals by Landin Wilson and another by Gabe Nettleton, but Norwin’s Mario Cavallaro scored three goals, one on the Power Play, late in the second period and again in the third to push the Knights ahead for good.
Indiana returns to action tomorrow night against Shaler.
