Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds could find a new home in the next couple of days after reports surfaced that he requested a trade out of Pittsburgh over the weekend.
The 27-year-old outfielder, who hit .262 with 27 home runs and 62 RBIs last season, requested a trade on Saturday, just a day before the 2022 Winter Meetings kicked off, according to insider reports. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the “relationship is broken” between Reynolds and the Pirates. He adds this is the “time to make the best trade possible and move on.”
While General Manager Ben Cherington has yet to formally comment on Reynolds’ request, a team spokesperson said this is disappointing to hear, but it has “zero impact” on the team’s decision-making this offseason. They add that Reynolds “remains a key member of [their] team.”
With the Winter Meetings officially underway, rumors speculate several teams are in on Reynolds. Some of those teams include the New York Yankees, Colorado Rockies, and Atlanta Braves.
