State police arrested two men from Allegheny County following a chase on November 30th that started in West Wheatfield Township and ended in a crash in Burrell Township.
Troopers say that 28-year-old Andrew Lamont McCrommon of Pittsburgh was the driver of a stolen 2016 Audi A4 and 31-year-old Darrell Dontay Eley of Braddock was the passenger when troopers caught the vehicle speeding on Route 22 in West Wheatfield Township. That led police on a chase that ended when the car hit a curb near the Sheetz on Route 22 in Burrell Township, causing the vehicle to become disabled.
Both men fled on foot, but troopers gave chase and were able to take Eley into custody after troopers used Tasers. McCrommon was able to get away but he was later found in a wooded area near Cornell Road. The state game commission assisted troopers in the search and he was found hiding in a hollow log. Back at the scene of the crash, troopers found a .40 caliber pistol at the crash site.
McCrommon was charged with receiving stolen property, and fleeing or eluding police, both felonies. Eley was charged with carrying a firearm while prohibited to do so and carrying a firearm without a license. The two were arraigned in front of District Judge Jennifer Rega and they are in Indiana County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bail.
