The Indiana School Board met last night for a reorganization meeting and their regular monthly meeting.
The board welcomed Cinda Brode and Tamie Blank as the board’s newest members during the reorganization portion of the meeting. The board also re-elected Walter Schroth as the board president and Julia Trimarchi-Cuccaro as the board vice president.
During the regular meeting, the board approved an agreement with White Township to allow the township’s recreation program to use the district facilities like classrooms, gymnasiums and the Junior High pool free of charge, with the township to be billed for all personnel costs that are incurred by the districts. Trimarchi-Cuccaro made an amendment that was accepted by the board to make the agreement to the end of the fiscal year, and during those six months, there will be more talks about the future of the agreement between the township and the board.
Also the board approved a resolution that the board will not increase any school district tax in the 2020-2021 budget at a rate that goes above the 3.3 percent index as calculated by the state Department of Education.
