The state police manhunt for 36-year-old David Paul Dilts of Penn Run ended quietly yesterday afternoon when he was taken into custody without incident while walking along Twolick Drive in White Township. He was arraigned before District Judge Jennifer Rega and ordered held at the Indiana County Jail, with bond set at $75,000.
Police were tipped off that Dilts was seen walking along Twolick Drive and quickly went there, apprehending him at 1:25 PM. He’s facing thirteen felony counts and 13 misdemeanor counts after police say he went on a crime spree Friday in the Saltsburg area, burglarizing two homes and assaulting a woman, attempting to break in to a third home, then crashing a stolen pickup truck later that afternoon in West Wheatfield Township. He fled the scene, then tussled with a man whose vehicle he tried to steal before being disarmed by the man and running away.
His felony charges include five counts of burglary – two of them involving bodily injury to a victim – along with three counts of theft, two counts each of attempted robbery and attempted reception of stolen property, and a single count of criminal trespass.
Judge Rega scheduled a preliminary hearing for December 11th at 10:40 AM.
