Edinboro University yesterday became the second of five State System schools to withdraw a letter of intent for possible faculty layoffs within the fiscal year. California University withdrew its letter in July, while retrenchment letters are still in effect for Cheyney, Clarion, and Mansfield.
APSCUF, the faculty union at the State System schools, says it worked with Edinboro to identify savings and efficiencies through attrition and “other opportunities” to align faculty with the school’s goals for student success. Edinboro President H. Fred Walker will announce more changes in university operations next Thursday.
IUP is one of nine universities which did not file retrenchment letters, which are required notifications to APSCUF if a university is exploring the possibility of furloughing teachers.
