The Pittsburgh Pirates traded pitcher Dario Agrazal to the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations on Monday.
Agrazal posted a 4-5 record with an era of 4.91 in 14 starts last season for the Pirates. He struggled during the season’s final month, going 0-2 with a 6.05 ERA in four starts in September.
Agrazal made his major league debut June 15 against the Marlins in Miami. He had been designated for assignment last week. Agrazal had the option to become a free agent if the Pirates wouldn’t have traded him because he was outrighted off the 40-man roster twice in his career.
The move was the first trade for Ben Cherington as the Pittsburgh Pirates’ general manager.
