The Pirates yesterday traded infielder/outfielder Hoy Park to the Boston Red Sox for left-handed pitcher Inmer Lobo. Park was designated for assignment by the Pirates on Tuesday after they claimed first baseman Lewin Diaz off waivers from the Marlins.
Lobo was 2-0 with an ERA of 0.82, with 28 strikeouts and only two walks in 22 innings pitched in the Dominican Summer League last season. He started five games after signing with the Red Sox in June.

Phillies superstar Bryce Harper had Tommy John elbow surgery yesterday. He will miss at least the first half of next season. The Phils are hoping that upon his return, Harper can go back to playing the outfield. Last season he was limited to playing DH after injuring the elbow and then breaking his thumb when he was hit by a pitch.
