UPDATE: More information was released by State Police concerning an incident at the Wal-Mart in White Township.
State Police say they responded to a reported incident at the store on Oakland Avenue on Saturday at 4:24 in the afternoon. Initial reports said that a man was brandishing a handgun in the parking lot. Upon the troopers’ arrival, it was determined that there was an altercation in the parking lot between several members of the same family. An off-duty municipal police officer stepped in and tried to de-escalate the situation prior to the State Police’s arrival. Few details on the disturbance itself are known but we have learned that it required multiple officers from Indiana Borough police and the Indiana County Sheriff’s Department to control the incident.
State Police say the investigation is on-going at this time, and charges of disorderly conduct are pending against several individuals involved.

Police have not yet issued a report on an incident Saturday night at the White Township Walmart.
Facebook was abuzz with images from the scene and witness accounts, which indicate that a large number of young people entered the store last night and caused a deliberate disturbance. When they were asked to leave by Walmart personnel a fight broke out in the parking lot and, reportedly, a gun was pulled, although that has not been confirmed. There was also a report of a constable using a Taser, but again, police have not reported on the incident yet, so that is unconfirmed.
State police and Indiana Borough police arrived on the scene and arrested several people, as some in the crowd chanted, “Black lives matter.”
In another incident, a man reportedly ran into the 4th Street Sheetz in Indiana with a gun, but left soon after. Police have yet to report on that incident as well.
