UPDATE AT 11:45 AM: The road reopened in the 10:00 hour, after cleanup and investigation was complete.
UPDATE AT 8:30 AM: Traffic is expected to be delayed further as 119 North in the area of the accident is closed. Homer City Fire Chief Terry Gardner says it’s because coal needs to be moved to another truck.
Traffic is expected to be delayed another hour and a half to two hours. People are reminded to use Route 56 or go through Homer City to detour their way around the crash site.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
A part of one of the major roads in Indiana County is blocked right now due to a vehicle accident reported this morning.

Indiana County 911 reports that a vehicle accident happened at 6:41 this morning in the Northbound lanes of Route 119 near the intersection with Greenville Road. Homer City Fire Crews are now on scene along with Citizen’s Ambulance and State Police. Fire chief Terry Gardner said that a pickup truck rear-ended a coal truck. While none of the cargo from the coal truck was spilled, the truck’s axle snapped, rendering it inoperable. Traffic is being detoured by going into Homer City or onto Route 56.
Traffic is expected to be restricted to one lane on the Northbound side for another hour as the coal truck is removed from the scene. Everyone in the pickup were taken to IRMC for treatment of unknown injuries. The coal truck driver was not hurt.
