The Richland Rams won their second straight PIAA District 6 Class 2A Championship, ending the Ligonier Valley Rams season by a final score of 34-6.
Richland struck twice in the games first six minutes to build a 14-0 lead, a lead they maintained at the half. Richland struck again in the third quarter before Ligonier Valley got on the board with 31 seconds remaining in the third quarter to trim the lead to 21-6 when quarterback Sam Sheeder scored from a yard out.
But Richland responded with two scores in the fourth quarter.
Ligonier Valley ended 12-1 and the senior-laden squad finished a remarkable four-year run The Rams won two District 6 titles of their own in 2015 and 2016 and went 50-5 over the past four years.
Richland Rams outgained Ligonier Valley, 404 to 309. Richland is now 12-0 and will face the winner of the Dunmore/Bishop McDevitt game in the PIAA State Quarterfinals next weekend.
