SWIMMING & DIVING
On the opening day of the three-day Magnus Cup at Cleveland State, IUP’s women’s swimming and diving team placed sixth while the men were eighth.
Competing against mostly Division One teams, the women posted individual NCAA B Cut standards by Paige Mikesell and Rachel Johnson in the 200 IM. Allison Brownlee placed sixth in the one-meter dive.
For the men, Thomas McGillen set a pair of IUP records in the 50 free and also set an NCAA B Cut standard.
IUP also set a school record in both the women’s and men’s 400 medley relay.
VOLLEYBALL
The IUP women’s volleyball team opens play in the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament today against Wheeling at Gannon University.
CROSS COUNTRY
The men’s and women’s cross country teams both compete in the Atlantic Regional meets at Mansfield starting tomorrow.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Men’s basketball is on the road to play Walsh University tomorrow in Canton, Ohio. IUP moved up to number two in the nation in this week’s D2 Sports Information Directors’ Poll. Walsh started the season ranked 20th but fell out of the Top 25 after a loss to Missouri-St. Louis.
FIELD HOCKEY
Two IUP freshman have been named to the PSAC all-conference field hockey teams. Forward Jess Davidson made All-PSAC second team and back Roos van Herel made third team.
