At the state cross country championships, the defending state champion Marion Center girls came up just short of winning their second straight Class A title, finishing second to District 6 rival St. Joseph.
St. Joseph’s qualifying points runner finished with a combined 93, 23 points ahead of Marion Center’s 116. Senior Alyx Cornetto led the Stingers with a 34th place overall finish, in 21:01.5.
Among the boys’ runners, Marion Center’s Hunter Armstrong earned a medal with a fourth place finish in Class A (16:28.0), and Indiana’s Kendall Branan (16:34.90) medaled with a 9th place finish in Double-A. Indiana finished fourth in the team competition.
In the District 6 Class A volleyball championship game, the defending state champion Northern Cambria girls bested Bishop Carroll, three games to none (25-21, 25-17, 25-17).
