State police have issued their report on last week’s perceived threat against the Homer Center School District.
Police say the incident came to light on October 20th thanks to the Safe2Say Something system, in which multiple people reported that a suspect was threatening to “shoot up the Homer Center High School”, based on Snapchat posts made by the suspect. The suspect has not been publicly identified, and the information was “third-hand knowledge”, according to police.
Homer Center Principal Jody Rainey, District Attorney Pat Dougherty, and State Trooper Adam Zinn determined together that there was no viable threat to the school. The school district sent a letter to parents informing them of the threat, and there were state troopers at the school the next day for added safety.
