At the request of the Clymer Fire Department, Clymer Borough Council on Wednesday night approved putting a fire ban in place for the borough.
Clymer Fire Chief John Gromley said that the recent string of dry weather has made conditions ripe for brush fires.
Gromley said that the ban includes all open flames or fires in a pit within the borough. However, grilling in a closed grill unit is still permitted. The ban can be lifted by Borough Council on Gromley’s advice.
In other business, the borough council approved advertising the 2023 budget. There was no change from the information provided by Borough Manager Sonya Schrenkel last week, which means there is no proposed tax increase for the borough residents. The budget will be up for final approval on December 8th.
