Indiana County voters turned out for Tuesday’s mid-term election, and things ran smoothly at the Indiana County Courthouse.
According to the unofficial results from the County’s website, 54.64% of Indiana County’s registered voters turned out on election day to vote. Indiana County Commissioner Mike Keith said that is a good number.
Indiana County remained with the Republican party for many of the state and federal races. In the U.S. Senate Race, Dr. Mehmet Oz carried Indiana County with 20,742 votes compared to 11,191 votes for the Democratic candidate John Fetterman. Earlier this morning, the race was called in favor of the former Mayor of Braddock and current Lt. Governor, as he had a lead of over 136,000 votes across the state.
For PA Governor, Indiana County voters selected Doug Mastriano. He received 19,156 votes compared to Josh Shapiro’s 13,003 votes. However, the statewide race has Shapiro with close to 54% of the state’s votes compared to 43% of the state wide vote for Mastriano. Many sources have called the race for Shapiro.
In the 15th District U.S. Congress Race, Glenn “G.T.” Thompson won with just over 70% of the vote across the district, compared to close to 30% of the vote for Mike Molesevich. The majority of Indiana County’s votes also went to Thompson, with 82.47% of the votes in Indiana County (2,587 votes) compared to 17.53% (550 votes) for Molesevich.
Thompson said that he looks forward to continue his work in the House Agriculture Committee and as the senior member of the House Education and Labor Committee.
Molesevich in a statement on his campaign’s Facebook page said that he was happy with the campaign he ran, and thanked his volunteers for their support.
All election results are unofficial until the mail-in and absentee ballots are counted and the votes are certified.
