Blairsville Borough Council heard about issues at a park and announced plans for Halloween at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Council heard about problems with the continued use of foul language near the skate park. One resident said that a lot of trash has been thrown over a fence. Police chief Michael Allman banned three instigators in the past. Blairsville Borough President John Bertolino suggested shutting it down for a week. Meanwhile, Mayor Frank Harsh announced four outdoor fitness stations have been instlaled and completed.
In other business, Halloween treats will be distributed around the Blairsville Diamond from 2-4 PM on Sunday, October 27th. The Halloween Parade will be held Monday, October 28th at 7:00 PM.
Councilman Ab Dettorre is continuing to make a plea for more fire department volunteers. They especially need volunteers for swift water rescue during flooding, rope rescue, search and scuba team.
Also, council approved a five-lot residential plan. Engineer Mike Meyer notes a grant application has been submitted. If approved the multi-module funds will be used for North Walnut and East Market up Cemetery Hill for sidewalk remediation and construction.
