The Penguins put in a tough practice yesterday, following yet another loss Saturday night to Seattle, with high-scoring Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals waiting for a Wednesday showdown. Both teams are looking to turn around slow starts. After beginning the season with four wins in five games, the Pens have lost seven straight. The Caps have lost four in a row.
Penguins coach Mike Sullivan says everyone on the team is looking for answers.
Sullivan says the coaches continue to preach a detail-oriented approach game-by-game.
The coach says the team’s veteran leaders in the locker room are frustrated by their lack of success.
The Pens sent forward Drew O’Connor back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton yesterday, and three injured players, Jeff Carter, Teddy Blueger, and Josh Archibald, put in full practices. Forward Ryan Poehling was absent due to illness.
The Penguins have a day off scheduled today.
