Officials with Indiana Regional Medical Center and members of the law enforcement community came to IRMC’s main campus today to get some real-world training on emergency situations.
After some classes this morning taught by the State Police Special Emergency Response Team, officers with the state police, IUP and Indiana Borough Police, IRMC Safety and Security officers, Sheriff’s deputies and others were sent into the IRMC Outpatient Services Building to run a series of test situations, with a debriefing session to follow. State Police Public Information Officer Trooper Cliff Greenfield said that those taking part were putting in a good day of work.
IRMC Director of Marketing and Community Relations Annie Rizzo said that the program was just as important for the hospital staff as it was for the law enforcement community.
The training necessitated the temporary closure of the Walk-In clinic and several administrative offices in the building, but it did not affect operations for the hospital’s emergency department.
