Today, the stakeholders of the Indiana Area Collaborative Team, or I-ACT, held a meeting to get ready for the upcoming IUP Homecoming weekend.
This year’s meeting did see representation from all the stakeholder groups, ranging from public relations to landlords, from student leadership to the homecoming committee, but the actual attendance figures for this year’s meeting was down. Both Robin Gorman, one of the I-ACT co-chairs and Michelle Fryling, with the public relations committee, both thought of that as a good thing as that means they have had several years where there have not been any serious events. Fryling added though that this is not the time to let the guard down.
Homecoming weekend kicks into high gear Thursday night with the annual rap and hip-hop concert at the KCAC for students. Friday night, the KCAC will host Larry the Cable Guy, and student activities committees and resident advisors are ready with alternate activities. Also, fraternities and sororities are ready for parade cleanup detail on Saturday after the homecoming parade is over. The parade will step off at its traditional time of 10:00 AM. Cleanup efforts will also take place Sunday morning starting at 10:00 AM.
Fryling added there will be no media conferences over the weekend unless absolutely needed.
