During their meeting Wednesday The Indiana County Commissioners approved extending the Keystone Opportunity Zone for Windy Ridge Business and Technology center.
The agreement is for 138.37 acres of land at Windy Ridge and excludes both the Creps United Publications property and the URBN distribution center. The vacant parcels would now be eligible for significant state and local tax benefits, which have been major selling points in the past for potential tenants.
While the commissioners have approved the KOZ Extension and authorized the county Office of Planning and Development to file the application to the Department of Community and Economic Development, it still needs approval through the Indiana Area School District and the White Township Supervisors. Last night, White Township Supervisors approved their version of the ordinance. Byron Stauffer of the Office of Planning and Development talks about what happens after they receive all the approvals.
In other business, the Commissioners are reminding voters that the last day to register to vote is October 7th, and the last day to apply for a civilian absentee ballot is October 29th. If you have any questions, you can log on to votespa.com, call the voter registration office at 724-465-3852 or stop by the voter registration office in the basement of the courthouse.
