The IUP men’s and women’s basketball teams received high honors in the PSAC preseason coaches’ polls that came out yesterday.
After finishing last year with a 33-3 record that featured another PSAC title and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, the men’s team was the overwhelming favorite with eight first place votes, followed by Mercyhurst and California (Pa.).
East Stroudsburg was the favorite to win the East, collecting seven of nine first place votes.
The women, on the other hand, were picked to finish fourth in the west despite losing a plethora of players and coaches. The Crimson Hawks lost four top scorers from last year including Rajah Fink. who transferred to the favored Cal U.
The Vulcans earned six first-place votes, while Gannon earned three.
The men open the regular season on November 12 against Concord at Clarion, while the women open their season against Davis & Elkins at the KCAC on November 11th.
