An Indiana County Court jury yesterday found 36-year-old Chad Cahill guilty of seven offenses in connection with a methamphetamine bust last January.
Cahill is from Armagh. He was arrested in March after state police found he was operating a meth lab in West Wheatfield Township.
District attorney Pat Dougherty says Cahill was found guilty of four felonies, for manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing precursors and chemicals with the intent to manufacture meth, operating a meth lab, and illegal dumping of meth waste; and three misdemeanors charges, for possession of ephedrine with the intent to manufacture meth, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Dougherty says Cahill will be sentenced on December 2nd. Assistant D.A. Beth Frederick prosecuted the case and State trooper Robert Shaw led the investigation.
Cahill is also involved in another meth lab case currently in the court system. He was one of four people arrested last January at the Burrell Township Walmart when state police were called for a retail theft and found two one-pot meth labs in the trunk of their car. He pleaded guilty in that case, but now wants to withdraw that plea. Both his sentencing and a hearing on his petition to withdraw are scheduled for next Monday.
