A bill introduced in the State House is seen as a way to provide property tax relief for senior citizens.
The bill would lift the state sales tax exemption on advertisements, use the revenues to provide property tax relief for senior citizens. The bill’s sponsor says it would generate an estimated $135 million a year.
Under the plan any homeowner over 65 with an income less than $40,000 a year would be eligible for a freeze on local property taxes, provided they’re not receiving the Lottery funded property tax rebate.
