An accused scammer will be in Indiana County Court today for a Plea Court appearance, answering charges in six separate criminal filings.
41-year-old Robert Jerome Sexton of York, York County, is facing 115 charges spread over the six cases. Five of the filings are for crimes committed between January and May of 2017. The other is dated in December of that year.
Sexton is accused of making purchases using stolen credit cards and counterfeit cards in Blairsville, Indiana, and White Township, and in North Versailles and Monroeville in Allegheny County, and Hempfield Township in Westmoreland County. All of the cases were consolidated for prosecution in Indiana County. Most of the purchases were made at Dollar General stores, with others at clothing and liquor stores, and gas stations. The total value of the fraudulent purchases was more than $19,000, with six listed victims.
Charges include forgery, theft, receiving stolen property, using altered or counterfeit access devices, identity theft, and conspiracy. Sexton is due before President Judge William Martin at 8:30 this morning. If he chooses to forego Plea Court, he’s scheduled for a jury trial starting on Monday.
