The Indiana County Office of Planning and Development has announced two public meetings to discuss Community Development Block Grant funding anticipated for Burrell and Center Townships. The Burrell Township meeting will be tomorrow at 1 PM in the municipal building along Park Drive in Black Lick. The Center Township meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 3 PM at the township building on Neal Road in Homer City.
The county expects approximately $85,263 in 2017 block grant funding for Burrell Township and $89,000 in Center Township but no program income during the 2017 program year.
Each meeting will include discussion of the needs of each township, their performance under previously-funded program years, and the required Three-Year Community Development Plan for each municipality.
Community Development Block Grants are intended generally for infrastructure needs. In Indiana County, they have traditionally been used for water and sewer line projects and sewage treatment plants, but the funds can be used for other purposes such as housing projects, public facilities, recreational facilities, and other service programs.
