Steven Barault was knocked out of the box after two and two-thirds innings after giving up 10 runs on eight hits as the Pirates lost to the Cubs 17-6. After the Pirates posted four runs in the first, Chicago put five runs on the board in the first and third inning. In the fifth, Chicago poured it on, scoring the remaining seven runs.
The Pirates and Cubs play again this afternoon.
