The Indiana Regional Medical Center’s 15th Annual Love of Life Campaign kicked off last night at the home of Christine Toretti, with a record crowd of more than 160 in attendance.
This year’s campaign celebrates breast cancer patients who are receiving all of their care at IRMC, and last night’s event featured a keynote speaker who has done just that: Wendy Treasure is a breast cancer survivor who received all of her treatment and surgery at IRMC. Also speaking last night was Dr. Dan Clark, the IRMC Director of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery and the Director of IRMC’s Comprehensive Breast Center.
IRMC now offers 3-D mammography both at the Women’s Imaging Center at the main campus in Indiana, and at IRMC at Chestnut Ridge.
This year’s Love of Life campaign will provide the remaining funds for the purchase of a second 3-D mammography machine for the Women’s Imaging Center, to meet a growing demand for the technology. It will also help IRMC’s Birdie’s Closet, which assists women at no cost during their breast cancer treatment journey with wigs, hats and scarves, prayer blankets and “purses of hope.”
Among the events for this year’s Love of Life Campaign are an afternoon of Bingo at the Coral-Graceton Volunteer Fire Department on Sunday, October 13th at 2 PM, and a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, October 19th.
