Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate was down slightly in September matching the lowest rate on record.
The state’s jobless rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point last month to 4.1 percent. The last time the rate was this low was in April 2000. Nonfarm jobs were up 12,000 in September to more than 5.9 million. Jobs increased in 6 of the 11 industry super sectors last month with the largest gain in government.
The state has now recovered 91 percent of the jobs lost during the first two months of the coronavirus pandemic.
