A man was killed early yesterday in a single-vehicle crash in West Wheatfield Township.
Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overnam Jr. says 26-year-old Daniel Rodkey, who lived along Route 422 in Armstrong Township, was the unrestrained front-seat passenger in a 2019 Tesla Model 3 sedan which failed to stop at the “T” intersection of Ofman and Shelbark Roads. Rodkey was ejected through the windshield as the car traveled into a wooded area and struck several trees and large rocks, landing on top of Rodkey.
The accident was reported at 2:56 AM, and alcohol and speed are believed to be factors. The driver, a male whose identity has not been released, was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. Overman did not know his condition.
State police have not yet issued a report on the crash.
