Pennsylvania State Police have provided more information on a crash that happened yesterday on Route 22 in East Wheatfield Township.
The initial call for the crash went out at 7:59 AM yesterday for Armagh and Clyde fire departments, state police and Citizens Ambulance for the crash on 22 near Gas Center Road. Troopers say that a box truck loaded with furniture was driving slowly in the left hand lane as the driver was looking for an address in the area. That’s when a fully loaded tri-axle dump truck coming in the same lane rear-ended the box truck. Upon impact, the box truck spun around and spilled furniture in both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Route 22. The box truck came to rest in the center of the roadway, while the dump truck came to a controlled stop on the westbound shoulder of the highway. Both directions of 22 were closed while cleanup took place on the accident.
The driver of the box truck was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for treatment of unknown injuries. The driver of the dump truck denied treatment or injuries. PennDOT was called in to assist with clearing the highway.
