INDIANA BOROUGH POLICE
Indiana Borough police have charged a Dayton man with drug crimes connected with an incident earlier this week. Police say they encountered 33-year-old Joseph Vandervort in the 200 block of Elm Street and found he was in possession of heroin, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Vandervort was charged in a criminal complaint with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and a traffic offense.

State Police are investigating two cases of access device fraud in the Burrell Township area. One case happened on July 2nd, as someone was able to get the debit card information of Richard Shoemaker of Blairsville, and used it to make purchases at Wal-Mart stores in Beaver Falls and Connellsville totaling $368. The investigation is ongoing at this point.
A similar case is being investigated that cites a 60-year-old Blairsville woman as the victim. This was on June 9th around 2:02 PM. Someone took the Blairsville woman’s debit card and withdrew $302 from an ATM. Police do have a suspect, but they are only identifying her as a 40-year-old Johnstown woman.
Two people were injured in a crash on Hospital Road in White Township. Police say on Thursday, around 7:35 PM, A car driven by 23-year-old Chris Henry was going south on Hospital Road, and came upon the car of 87-year-old Polly Filipovich of Indiana, which had stopped to make a left turn into Mack Park. Henry did not see Filipovich had stopped and Henry’s vehicle rear-ended Filipovich’s. Both Filipovich and Henry had suspected minor injuries, but they were not treated.
