The Indiana Area School Board meets tonight with an agenda that is relatively light, including personnel moves and appointments. But there is one item that is of special interest…a suggestion that the board and district administration consider further vetting a three-building elementary school configuration scenario that would close the Horace Mann Elementary School.
After considering four different ideas on the elementary schools, the board in June chose “Option 1”, which would keep all four schools open with an $8.5 million cap on renovations, utilizing funds borrowed three years ago for the since-scuttled Ben Franklin School replacement project. However, the board emphasized that the decision in June was intended to give it time for further vetting in the Buildings, Grounds, and Transportation Committee, and tonight’s agenda item follows the schedule for that consideration.
The meeting will take place at 7:30 at the district office at East Pike.
