The high school football season kicks off tonight with four games on our Renda Broadcasting stations.
The Heritage Conference schedule includes Homer Center at Ligonier Valley. Mark Bertig and Ward Hilliard will call the action on WCCS AM 1160 & FM 101.1.
On Cat Country, 106.3 FM, Blairsville will host Penns Manor at the newly-renamed Ernie Widmar Field. Chuck Clark and Ab Dettorre will call the action.
Comets Coach Bill Packer has three options at quarterback with his young team.
The Bobcats’ coach, Rick Artley, will look to his son, Zak, to start at quarterback.
On 92.5 FM, U92, the Saltsburg Trojans visit Marion Center, with Todd Marino and new partner John Allen Snyder on the call.
Second-year Stingers head coach Adam Rising says his team will have to keep a watchful eye on the Trojan’s talented quarterback, Josh Gibbons.
Trojans’ coach Mike Leasure says he knows Marion Center is a tough opening opponent.
The other Heritage Conference games are Northern Cambria at United and West Shamokin at Purchase Line.
On WDAD, AM 1450 and FM 100.3 tonight, Coach Brandon Overdorff and his Indiana High Indians travel to Armstrong High School in Kittanning. Travis Williams and Bruce Weber will call the game. Overdorff says Indiana has a tough schedule, but he likes it.
All of the action begins on an Indiana Regional Medical Center High School Sportsnight with pregame at 6:30, with the exception of the Homer Center/Ligonier Valley game, which will be on the air at 6:20. Kickoffs are scheduled at 7 o’clock, and in addition to hearing the games on the radio, you can hear them on your computer at the Trib Live High School Sports Network, with each game directly linked at each station’s website.
Tomorrow morning, we wrap up the action with the Luther Ford Coaches Corner debuting its 51st season on WDAD.
