Manager Michael Ryan is the new all-time Altoona Curve franchise record holder for wins, as his team handed him a 5-4 comeback victory over Bowie yesterday. The Baysox led 3-0 before a four-run Curve rally in the 6th put Altoona up by a run. Bowie tied it in the 8th, but in the bottom of the inning, Brett Pope led off with a double and advanced to third on a bunt, but Bowie pitcher Jay Flaa threw to third to try to get Pope and the ball sailed into left field. Pope got up and scored the winning run, handing Ryan his 214th win as Curve manager.
Ryan is 494-458 in 7 seasons as a manager in the Pirates’ system, with league championships at both Bradenton and Altoona. The Curve welcome Hartford to Altoona tonight.
