Adding to Friday’s initial reports, multiple sources over the weekend tabbed Penguins Assistant GM Bill Guerin as the front-runner to become the new General Manager of the Minnesota Wild. Guerin won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2009 and has been in the team’s front office since 2011, first as a player development coach and since 2014 as Assistant GM.
Others who are potential candidates at Minnesota include former Penguins Assistant GM Tom Fitzgerald, NBC commentator Pierre McGuire, and ex-Flyers GM Ron Hextall.
